William J. Duffy, Esq.

Biography

William J. Duffy specializes in criminal law and practices predominantly in the Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino, and San Diego Counties of Southern California. After honorably serving our country in the United States Navy as an Avionics Technician aboard the USS Enterprise, he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication Studies from the University of Montana in 1994.  William J. Duffy attended Western State College of Law in Fullerton, CA and graduated with a Juris Doctorate Degree in 2005.  At Western State, he was the ABA Representative and earned multiple Witkin Awards.

William J. Duffy was raised in the Southern California area. The son and grandson of Los Angeles Police Officers, William J. Duffy was exposed to the criminal justice system at a young age.  Seeing the personal connection that his father had with those he protected shaped his view of justice and his understanding of what it means to be a part of his community.  These early experiences set him on a path to become a Criminal Defense Attorney.

While studying the practice of law at Western State, William J. Duffy worked as a certified law clerk within the Justice System Integrity Division at the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office where the focus was to investigate accusations of criminal misconduct by law enforcement and judicial officers.  This position gave him the opportunity to observe and learn from some of the top prosecutors in the county.

After being admitted to the California State Bar in 2007, William J. Duffy spent a year in public service as a Deputy Public Defender at the San Bernardino County Public Defender’s Office.  Here, he took on a wide variety of misdemeanor and felony cases ranging from trespass to terrorism.  Even with the responsibility of a demanding caseload, William J. Duffy would spend countless hours researching and preparing his cases.  His fierce representation led to not guilty verdicts in his first nine jury trials.  His growing reputation gave him the ability to broker deals with the District Attorney’s Office on behalf of his clients, therefore avoiding the risks of trial.

Eager to make his mark as a skilled and capable criminal defense attorney, William J. Duffy entered the private sector and worked with some of the most reputable Criminal Defense Firms in Southern California.  In 2017, he took his knowledge, experience, and reputation to the next level by establishing Duffy Law, P.C.

William J. Duffy’s legal acumen and aggressive trial approach earned him an invitation to join forces with The Law Offices of Bryan R. Kazarian.  William J. Duffy, acknowledging the extensive resources, growth and prominence of Bryan R. Kazarian’s Criminal Defense Firm, accepted the invitation and joined the Firm in 2022.

In addition to his pursuit of justice through the criminal justice system, William J. Duffy is also a Shepherding Elder at Mariners Church in Irvine, CA, and volunteers at the Orange County Rescue Mission.
