When it comes to farm crops, theft of a value of $250 or more is considered grand theft.
While the normal lines between theft and grand theft are drawn at larger values, the type of property can create exceptions to the rule. When it comes to “domestic fowls, avocados, olives, citrus or deciduous fruits, other fruits, vegetables, nuts, artichokes, or other farm crops…” theft of property valued at $250 or more is grand theft.
